Patna: The Bihar Energy Department’s stall emerged as a major attraction during Bihar Diwas celebrations at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, drawing large crowds eager to learn about the state’s power sector initiatives.
The three-day event, held from March 22 to 24, showcased the department’s achievements and ongoing schemes, including the Chief Minister’s Agricultural Electricity Connection Scheme and the rooftop solar initiative under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme.
Visitors gathered in significant numbers at the stall, where an LED display featured a film highlighting Bihar’s energy transformation. The presentation used visuals to illustrate progress in electrification, infrastructure expansion and improvements in power supply across the state.
Farmers visiting the stall received detailed information about agricultural electricity connections, while many citizens showed interest in rooftop solar installations and their potential benefits under the central government scheme.
Officials and electrical engineers stationed at the stall engaged directly with the public, offering guidance on electricity-related services, addressing grievances and raising awareness about cybersecurity risks, including electricity bill fraud.
They also urged consumers to make bill payments only through authorised platforms such as the Suvidha app and other approved applications.
The stall prominently displayed key achievements of the state’s power distribution companies, including developments in solar energy projects, expansion of power grids and the rollout of smart metering systems aimed at improving consumer services.
This year’s exhibition was organised around the Bihar diwas theme “Unnat Bihar – Vikasit Bihar”, reflecting the state’s broader development ambitions.
A selfie point set up near the stall also attracted visitors, with many taking photographs and sharing them on social media, adding to the festive atmosphere of the event.
