Ara/Patna: Bihar is set to get its first integrated aqua park as part of the state government’s efforts to expand tourism and strengthen the fisheries sector, with a Rs 31.21 crore project planned at the Banasur Fish Seed Farm in Karisath, Bhojpur district.
The project is expected to combine modern aquaculture infrastructure with tourism facilities, creating what officials describe as a unique destination for visitors while enhancing fish production and related economic activities in the state.
Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the project on Monday.
Ahead of the event, extensive security and administrative arrangements have been put in place. Bhojpur District Magistrate Tanay Sultania and senior police officials have been overseeing preparations.
Fisheries And Tourism Combined
Officials said the integrated aqua park is designed not only to promote tourism but also to strengthen Bihar’s fisheries ecosystem through the introduction of modern technology and scientific fish farming practices.
The complex will include 17 major components aimed at improving fish production, research, training and value addition.
Among the key facilities proposed are a state-of-the-art hatchery for producing high-quality fish seed and a Re-circulatory Aquaculture System (RAS), which allows higher fish production while significantly reducing water consumption.
The project will also include facilities for local production of high-quality fish feed, reducing dependence on external suppliers and supporting the growth of the fisheries industry within the state.
Modern Laboratories Planned
Two specialised laboratories are also planned as part of the project.
One laboratory will focus on testing water quality, while the second will be dedicated to fish health monitoring and the diagnosis of fish diseases.
Officials said these facilities would help improve productivity and support scientific aquaculture practices across Bihar.
Employment And Economic Benefits
The state government expects the project to generate employment opportunities for local youth while contributing to the expansion of fisheries-related businesses.
Officials believe the aqua park will help increase fish production, promote aqua-tourism and create a new identity for Bihar in the fisheries sector.
The project is also expected to provide indirect benefits to fish farmers through improved access to quality seed, feed and technical support.
Boost To Rural Economy
The administration has projected that the initiative will strengthen Bihar’s fisheries value chain and contribute to higher incomes for farmers engaged in aquaculture.
By integrating tourism with fisheries infrastructure, the state hopes to attract visitors while showcasing modern fish farming practices and encouraging investment in the sector.
Officials said the project forms part of a broader effort to diversify Bihar’s tourism offerings and create new avenues of economic activity in rural areas.
Once completed, the integrated aqua park is expected to emerge as a major fisheries and tourism hub in the state, combining recreation, education and aquaculture development under a single complex.
