Patna: Bihar is likely to experience a hotter-than-usual Holi this year, with temperatures forecast to rise steadily over the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that both daytime and nighttime temperatures are expected to increase, bringing warmer conditions across the state just as festivities approach.
According to the IMD, dry weather is set to prevail for at least the next seven days. With no rainfall predicted, the absence of cloud cover is likely to contribute to a gradual but consistent rise in temperature across multiple districts.
Over the next 72 hours, maximum temperatures at several locations are expected to increase by 1C to 3C. After this period, forecasters anticipate no significant change in daytime temperatures in most parts of the state. However, warmer days are likely to persist.
Nighttime temperatures are also projected to rise. The IMD has indicated that minimum temperatures could increase by 2C to 4C across many areas during the same 72-hour window, reducing the relief typically felt during early mornings and late evenings.
On Monday, maximum temperatures across Bihar ranged between 30C and 32C, while minimum temperatures were recorded between 14C and 18C. For Tuesday, temperatures in south-west, south-central and south-east Bihar are expected to touch between 32C and 34C.
Authorities have advised residents to take precautions during outdoor celebrations, particularly during Holi, as prolonged exposure to rising heat may lead to discomfort and dehydration.
