Patna: The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority has allocated 64 acres of land across multiple districts for the establishment of 15 new factories, in a move aimed at accelerating industrial growth in Bihar.
The projects, spanning locations including Purnia, Muzaffarpur, Bihta, Begusarai and Gaya, involve a combined investment of over Rs 3,000 crore and are expected to generate direct employment for around 1,500 people.
Multi-sector industrial push
The proposed units will operate across a range of sectors, including plastics, rubber, food processing, textiles, IT and IT-enabled services, as well as renewable energy.
Companies investing in these projects include Nirani Sugars Limited, HR Food Processing Private Limited and Sanjeevani Media and Technology Private Limited.
Officials said the initiative is designed not only to boost production capacity but also to create employment opportunities for local skilled workers.
Wider industrial expansion underway
Over the past year, Bihar has received proposals for 747 factories, of which 317 have been allotted 404 acres of land. These projects are expected to attract investments worth approximately Rs 5,500 crore and create employment for around 22,500 people.
Major companies in the pipeline include Reliance Industries Limited, JK Lakshmi Cement, Campa Cola, Shyam Steel Private Limited, Mother Dairy, Aditya Birla Group and Hindustan Petroleum Limited.
Faster approvals and land allocation
BIADA said it has expedited land allocation processes, with more than 40 factories receiving land in the past three months alone. A separate proposal for a cardboard box manufacturing unit on 4 acres in Bhojpur has also been approved, with the project expected to generate around 1,200 jobs.
Officials said the state is using a single-window system to facilitate quicker approvals and ensure that projects move swiftly from planning to execution.
Bihar emerging as industrial hub
State industries minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal said companies across sectors such as leather, textiles, bioplastics, chemicals and electronics are setting up operations in Bihar.
BIADA managing director Kundan Kumar added that land allocation is being carried out through a transparent and time-bound process, supported by improvements in infrastructure and connectivity.
Officials said the developments reflect a broader push to position Bihar as an emerging industrial hub, with increasing investor interest and expanding manufacturing capacity across districts.
