Patna: A major update has come from Patna as the suspense over the formation of the new Bihar government has finally ended. After the NDA’s sweeping victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has confirmed that the new government will take oath within the next six days. The coalition, energised by its massive mandate, is working quickly to complete all preparations before the swearing-in.
Speaking to reporters, Chirag Paswan said that discussions among coalition partners were already in progress and that the final outline of the new administration would be ready “today or tomorrow”. He added that he would be holding conversations with senior Union ministers by the end of the day and strongly emphasised that the government must be formed before November 22. His statement indicates that the NDA leadership is confident and fully aligned on the next steps.
The urgency is linked to the end of the current Bihar Assembly term, which expires on November 22 . The NDA aims to ensure a smooth transition and is focused on avoiding any delay in taking charge. There is growing public and political curiosity over the distribution of key ministries and the expected decision-making style of the soon-to-be-installed administration.
The NDA secured one of its biggest victories in Bihar’s recent political history, winning 202 of the 243 assembly seats. The BJP led the alliance with 89 seats, followed closely by the Janata Dal (United) with 85. Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) delivered an impressive performance with 19 seats, while the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha won 5 and 4 seats respectively. These numbers reflect strong unity among alliance partners and a resounding mandate from the voters.
On the other hand, the RJD-led Grand Alliance suffered a heavy defeat, ending with just 35 seats. The RJD won 25 seats, the Congress managed 6, the CPI(ML)(L) won 2, and both the Bharatiya Samaveshi Party and the CPI(M) secured one seat each. Prashant Kishor’s Jansuraj, despite significant publicity, failed to win any seat. Meanwhile, the AIMIM secured 5 seats and the Bahujan Samaj Party won 1. The results clearly show that the voters placed their trust in the NDA and opted for stability over experimentation.
With the NDA finalising its preparations, Bihar is just days away from witnessing the oath-taking ceremony of its new government. The next major development eagerly awaited is the announcement of the cabinet members and the first set of decisions that will signal the direction of the new administration.
