Patna: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) will stage a protest in Bihar on August 4 over issues concerning teacher recruitment, examination processes and the state’s education system, national president Vinod Jakhar announced on Wednesday.
Jakhar appealed to candidates preparing for the fourth phase of the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4) to participate in the protest. He said the organisation would raise demands related to recruitment notifications, timely declaration of results, employment opportunities and action against paper leaks.
NSUI Seeks Action On TRE-4 Recruitment
The announcement comes as the state moves ahead with the next phase of teacher recruitment. The Bihar Education Department has sent a requisition to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) for the recruitment of 32,388 teachers under TRE-4.
The NSUI has maintained that candidates should receive timely updates on recruitment and examination schedules. Jakhar said the August 4 demonstration would also raise concerns over delays in recruitment notifications and results.
The organisation has also called for recruitment drives to create employment opportunities for job seekers and demanded action against examination paper leaks.
Protest To Raise Wider Education Concerns
According to Jakhar, the protest will also focus on improving Bihar’s education system, preventing paper leaks and opposing what the NSUI describes as the privatisation of education.
The proposed demonstration follows earlier protests by TRE-4 aspirants in Patna over delays in the recruitment notification. Candidates had previously demanded that the BPSC issue the advertisement for the fourth phase of teacher recruitment.
32,388 Teacher Posts Under TRE-4
The latest recruitment process covers 32,388 teaching posts across different school levels. The vacancies include 3,847 posts for Classes 1 to 5, 8,563 for Classes 6 to 8, 3,877 for Classes 9 to 10, and 16,101 for Classes 11 to 12.
The Bihar government’s move to forward the requisition to the BPSC marks a key step towards beginning the recruitment process. The development was announced on July 29 by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who described it as a step towards improving education and employment opportunities for young people.
The NSUI’s August 4 protest is expected to bring these recruitment and education-related concerns back into focus, with Jakhar urging TRE-4 candidates to join the demonstration.
