Patna: The Bihar cabinet has approved road infrastructure projects valued at Rs 2,740 crore in a move aimed at accelerating statewide connectivity and modernisation, Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen announced on Tuesday.
The approvals were granted during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Minister Naveen said the projects mark a significant step towards the government’s long-term vision of ensuring that all regions of Bihar can access the state capital within three and a half hours by 2027.
Among the key projects is a revised approval of Rs 696.26 crore under the Central Road Fund for the construction of a flyover from Gandhi Chowk to Nagarpalika Chowk in Chhapra, Saran district — a development expected to ease long-standing traffic congestion in the area.
In Patna, the cabinet sanctioned Rs 1,368.46 crore for a two-lane and four-lane elevated corridor from AIIMS to the Digha end of the rail-cum-road bridge. This includes funding for the completion of pending works under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and a connecting road to Ashok Rajpath. The project aims to streamline traffic around JP Ganga Path, AIIMS and Digha.
Additionally, the government has granted administrative approval for Rs 675.5 crore for the construction of the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Path Chakra along Nehru Path in the city.
“These projects reflect the Chief Minister’s vision for integrated development and improved road connectivity across Bihar,” Naveen said, expressing his gratitude to Kumar for the approvals.
