Patna:The Bihar government on Wednesday transferred the May instalment of social security pensions to beneficiaries under schemes administered by the Social Welfare Department.
According to officials, a total of Rs. 1,096.44 crore was credited directly into the bank accounts of 94.29 lakh beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary oversaw the transfer during a state-level programme.
Government reiterates commitment to welfare payments
Addressing the event, the chief minister said the government remained committed to ensuring timely pension payments to elderly persons, persons with disabilities, widows and other eligible beneficiaries covered under social security schemes.
Live broadcast across districts and blocks
The programme was broadcast live at district and block headquarters across Bihar. Beneficiaries gathered at designated venues to watch the transfer event and hear the chief minister’s address.
District administrations organised special events for beneficiaries of various pension schemes, enabling them to follow the proceedings through the live telecast.
Block-level participation
The state government also directed block headquarters to hold similar programmes. Block Development Officers (BDOs), Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) and other officials attended the events alongside beneficiaries.
Officials were instructed to ensure that eligible pensioners were informed about the programme and could participate in the local events.
Facilities arranged for beneficiaries
Administrative authorities arranged basic facilities at event venues, including television screens or other equipment for the live broadcast.
Seating arrangements, drinking water and informational displays were also provided for beneficiaries attending the programme.
