Kaimur/Patna: State education minister Mithilesh Tiwari has announced that government school teachers will soon be placed under a district cadre system, a move aimed at addressing long-standing concerns over postings far from home.
Speaking at a public event in Ramgarh, Kaimur, on Friday, Tiwari said teachers would be allowed to choose their preferred districts through an online notification expected after June 25.
The minister said the initiative was intended to simplify transfers and improve administrative efficiency in the education department.
District selection process
Under the proposed system, teachers will be given up to 30 district options to choose from, according to Tiwari.
Once a district is selected, the teacher will be permanently assigned there. However, the minister said that if a teacher later seeks a transfer to another district, their seniority would be reset.
Tiwari also said women teachers would be posted in panchayats nearest to their residence, while male teachers would be assigned to the nearest block.
Attendance to shift to digital portal
The education minister said teacher attendance would now be recorded through the department’s online portal.
He added that the department would introduce AI-based monitoring to track attendance and movement during school hours.
According to Tiwari, teachers leaving school premises without authorisation during working hours could face deductions in attendance records.
Performance linked to student outcomes
Tiwari said teacher assessments would increasingly be tied to student progress reports.
He also stated that the department would follow a “one post, one teacher” policy to ensure appointments are aligned with sanctioned positions.
The minister said the government would provide logistical support to teachers, but stressed that classroom teaching standards would be closely monitored.
Model schools planned
During the event, Tiwari said one model school had been identified in each block of Ramgarh as part of broader efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure.
He added that work would also be taken up in schools without land and in institutions marked for upgradation.
The event was attended by local BJP workers and former MLA Ashok Kumar Singh.
