Bodh Gaya/Patna: Buddhist monks, members of the Tibetan community and devotees from India and abroad participated in a candlelight peace march in Bodh Gaya on Saturday evening, calling for peace, the protection of human rights and global harmony, while expressing support for the Tibetan cause.
The procession began at the Tibetan Buddhist Monastery and passed through the Thai Monastery before concluding at the Mahabodhi Temple, where participants offered special prayers.
Monks Lead Peace Procession
The march drew monks and abbots from Buddhist monasteries representing several countries, along with members of the Tibetan community and people from Himalayan and other hill regions.
Participants carried candles and walked peacefully through the town, while monks chanted prayers promoting peace, compassion and non-violence.
Tribute To Tibetan Activist
During the programme, participants paid tribute to Tibetan activist Lobsang Rangzen, who organisers said died during a protest outside the United Nations headquarters in New York on July 2.
A moment of silence was observed in his memory, and participants offered prayers for peace and the protection of human rights.
Special Prayers At Mahabodhi Temple
The march concluded at the Mahabodhi Temple, where monks and devotees held special prayers.
The prayers focused on world peace, the protection of human rights and the promotion of compassion and global harmony, while remembering Lobsang Rangzen.
