Patna: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has published its long-awaited examination calendar for 2026, laying out tentative timelines for several recruitment tests and results across the state. While the announcement brings clarity for candidates preparing for civil services and clerical posts, it has left lakhs of teacher recruitment aspirants disappointed, as the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4) is missing from the schedule.
The absence of TRE-4 is being seen as the most significant gap in the new calendar. Officials indicated that the commission has not yet received the formal vacancy requisition from the state’s education department. Without this, the recruitment process cannot be initiated, making it impossible for BPSC to fix dates for the examination.
The delay has added to the anxiety of thousands of candidates who have been preparing for months in anticipation of the next phase of teacher appointments. Many aspirants say the lack of clarity has disrupted their study plans and career timelines, as they wait for the government to finalise the number of posts and communicate them to the commission.
Despite the uncertainty over teacher recruitment, the calendar offers some relief to candidates targeting administrative and clerical roles. The final result of the prestigious 70th BPSC Combined Competitive Examination is expected between April and May 2026. The Lower Division Clerk (LDC) final result is likely to be declared in February, while the mains result for the District Statistical Officer post is also anticipated the same month. For Assistant Section Officer (ASO) candidates, the mains examination is scheduled for February, with results targeted for March.
BPSC has stressed that most of the dates mentioned are provisional and may change due to administrative or logistical reasons. Even so, the publication of the calendar signals the commission’s intent to speed up pending recruitments. For now, however, the spotlight remains on the education department, as teacher aspirants continue to wait for the vacancy details that would allow TRE-4 to move forward.
