Patna: The Bihar Public Service Commission has issued a notification for the recruitment of 300 prosecution officers under the Home Department of the Bihar government. The vacancies have been announced under advertisement number 13/2026. Through this recruitment drive, the commission aims to fill vacant posts in the state Prosecution Service. The entire application process will be conducted online through the commission’s official website.
According to the notification, the online application process will start on February 27 and will continue until March 20. The commission has clearly stated that applications will not be accepted after the last date. Candidates have been advised to read the detailed advertisement carefully before applying to avoid mistakes during form submission. Only eligible Indian candidates can apply for these posts.
Out of the total 300 posts, 129 have been reserved for the unreserved category. Twenty-nine posts are for candidates from the economically weaker sections. Scheduled Castes have been allotted 42 posts, while Scheduled Tribes have seven posts. Sixty-four posts are reserved for Extremely Backward Classes and 25 for Backward Classes, including four posts reserved for women from backward classes. In addition, 99 posts have been set aside for women under 35% horizontal reservation across categories. Separate reservations have also been made for persons with disabilities, with three posts each for visually impaired, hearing impaired, orthopaedically disabled, and mentally or multi-disabled candidates. Benefits will also be given to ex-servicemen and other eligible groups as per state government rules.
To apply for the post, candidates must have a law degree from a recognised university. They must also be registered as an advocate to practise in court. The commission has clarified that having an LLB degree alone is not enough; registration with the Bar Council is mandatory. All educational qualifications must be completed before the last date of application. The minimum age for applying is 21 years, calculated as of August 1. The maximum age limit is 37 years for unreserved male candidates, 40 years for unreserved female candidates, and 42 years for candidates belonging to Backward Classes, Extremely Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Age relaxation will be provided as per government norms.
The selection process will take place in three stages: preliminary examination, main examination and interview. The preliminary exam will have two papers — general studies for 100 marks and law for 150 marks. Candidates who qualify will appear for the main written examination, which will cover eight subjects. Those who pass the mains will be called for an interview, after which the final merit list will be prepared. Selected candidates will receive a salary under Pay Level 9 along with other government benefits.
