Patna: A special health awareness programme was organised on June 6 at the Patna Civil Court premises under the Aastha Foundation’s “Walk for Life” initiative, focusing on the theme “Healthy Advocate – Empowered Judicial System.”
The event was aimed at advocates and professionals associated with the judicial system, with medical experts highlighting the growing burden of lifestyle-related diseases in the community.
Rising Health Concerns Among Advocates
Addressing the gathering, Dr Diwakar Tejaswi, Medical Director and Senior Physician at ‘Pahal’, said conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, fatty liver, and musculoskeletal problems are increasing rapidly among advocates.
He attributed the rise to prolonged sitting hours, constant mental stress, irregular eating habits, lack of sleep, limited physical activity, and tobacco consumption.
Dr Tejaswi described hypertension and diabetes as “silent killers,” stressing the need for early detection and consistent preventive care.

Preventive Measures Highlighted
He advised regular health check-ups, a balanced diet, reduced salt intake, and at least 30 minutes of daily walking. He also emphasised stress management as a key factor in preventing chronic illness.
To reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes, he urged people to avoid smoking and tobacco use, maintain a healthy body weight, and undergo periodic medical screening.
Heat-Related Health Advisory
Dr Tejaswi also noted that Bihar’s hot and humid weather can lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, which may result in heat-related illnesses.
He recommended adequate water intake, consumption of ORS and coconut water, along with a balanced diet to prevent heatstroke, weakness, and dizziness.
Call for Health-Conscious Lifestyle
Speaking at the event, Dr Tejaswi said: “One should not neglect personal health amidst a busy life and constant mental pressure. Healthy advocates are the cornerstone of an empowered judicial system.”
Participants described the programme as useful and called for more such initiatives in the future.
The “Walk for Life” initiative by the Aastha Foundation aims to promote health awareness across different sections of society and encourage sustainable healthy living habits.
