Patna: The Jamalpur-Howrah Vande Bharat Express was flagged off on Friday, 16 August, under the Eastern Railway. This new train is an extension of the Bhagalpur-Howrah Vande Bharat Express and will begin regular services from 17 August. It will cover 441 km in 6 hours and 35 minutes, making it the fastest train on this route so far.
The train will run six days a week, except Fridays. On its journey from Jamalpur to Howrah, it will stop at eight stations: Bhagalpur, Barahat, Mandar Hill, Hansdiha, Noniyat, Dumka, Rampurhat and Bolpur Shantiniketan. Train number 22310 will leave Jamalpur at 3.30pm and reach Howrah at 10.05pm, while train number 22309 will depart Howrah at 7.45am and arrive in Jamalpur at 2.15pm.
The Vande Bharat Express has eight coaches, including one executive chair car (EC) and seven chair cars (CC). It can carry 590 passengers in total. The executive chair car seats 44 people, while the chair cars have 546 seats. Tickets are already available online on the IRCTC website, through the mobile app and at station counters.
The fare for an AC chair car ticket is Rs 1,290, while the executive chair car costs Rs 2,335. With its speed, modern design and new facilities, the Jamalpur-Howrah Vande Bharat is expected to become a popular choice for travellers in the region.
