Patna: Jan Suraaj has demanded a judicial inquiry into the alleged tender scam linked to Rishu Shri, with the party’s Bihar president Manoj Bharti writing to the President, the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister seeking an independent investigation into the case.
Addressing reporters on Sunday, Bharti said the developments in the case had raised serious concerns about administrative transparency and the standards of governance in Bihar.
Questions Raised Over Delayed Action
Bharti noted that several individuals had already been arrested in connection with the case, including former IAS officer Mumukshu Chaudhary, former chief engineers Tarani Das and Umesh Kumar Singh, and alleged middleman Rishu Shree.
He questioned why substantial action was reportedly delayed for nearly a year despite the FIR in the case having been registered in April 2025.
According to Bharti, the delay itself warrants scrutiny as part of any comprehensive investigation.
Demand For Independent Inquiry
The Jan Suraaj leader said the Patna High Court had also highlighted the need for an independent probe into allegations linked to hawala transactions, money laundering and other serious charges connected to the case.
He called for an impartial investigation into allegations involving manipulation of the tender process, misuse of confidential documents, foreign travel undertaken by the families of officials, accumulation of alleged illegal assets and suspicious financial transactions.
Bharti also demanded clarity on who ultimately benefited from the alleged irregularities.
“It must be established who the actual beneficiaries of this entire affair are,” he said.
Party Seeks High Court-Monitored Investigation
Jan Suraaj general secretary and former MLA Kishore Kumar Munna said the issue extended beyond allegations of corruption and touched upon the integrity of public institutions and the use of public funds.
“The matter is not merely about corruption. It concerns public money and the credibility of government institutions,” he said.
The party said it has formally written to the President, the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister seeking an independent, impartial and time-bound investigation into the entire episode.
Jan Suraaj has further demanded that the inquiry be conducted under the supervision of the High Court to ensure transparency and public confidence in the outcome.
The alleged tender scam remains under investigation, with law enforcement and vigilance agencies continuing their probe into the case.
