Chhapra: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Chhapra on Wednesday as part of his ongoing ‘Samriddhi Yatra’, a state-wide campaign showcasing development and progress. Landing by helicopter at 10:56 AM, CM travelled by road to the Sadar block, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. The visit offered a glimpse into initiatives aimed at employment, women’s empowerment, and rural development.
Development stalls and a warm welcome
At the Sadar block premises, CM inspected stalls set up by various government departments, including Jeevika, Education, Health, Energy, Rural Roads, Social Security, and the District Registration and Counseling Centre. The Chief Minister greeted residents with folded hands, creating a cordial and approachable atmosphere.

Inaugurating Didi’s Tailoring House
During the visit, he inaugurated the Didi’s Tailoring House, a training-cum-production centre run by the Radhe Krishna Jeevika Mahila Sankul Sangh. Upon seeing the well-organised setup and women at work, he exclaimed, “Wow, very beautiful!” The remark sparked enthusiasm among the Jeevika women present.

Deputy Chief Minister Choudhary briefed CM on the centre’s initiatives. Meanwhile, Champa Devi, a trainee, told the Chief Minister in Bhojpuri, “It feels very good, we have got employment,” reflecting the confidence and empowerment the scheme has brought to rural women.
Employment and skill development
The centre is equipped with 57 machines, including stitching and button-attaching machines, supporting regular work for the women. Each participant recently received Rs. 10,000 under the Chief Minister’s Employment Scheme.

An agreement with the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) will see 195,000 uniforms stitched for Anganwadi children in Saran district by March, with fabric and training support provided by Mafatlal Company. A crèche and a Jeevika Didi’s kitchen have also been established to support working women and their children.
Plans are underway to open two stitching centres in every block of the district, with additional MoUs for producing uniforms for government school children.
Sand sculpture and government schemes
A sand sculpture of CM, created by artist Ashok Kumar, drew the Chief Minister’s attention and appreciation during the visit, adding a lighter, celebratory moment to the day.

He also laid the foundation stone for 45 new projects worth Rs. 450.30 crore and inaugurated 24 schemes valued at Rs. 86.50 crore in the district. Officials highlighted initiatives under the state’s “Progress to Prosperity” campaign and the government’s seven resolutions. District authorities, including the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police Vineet Kumar, attended the programme.
