Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to embark on a statewide “Samriddhi Yatra” (Prosperity Journey) across Bihar from January 16, officials announced on Thursday. The initiative aims to assess the implementation of the state government’s flagship schemes, including the Progress Yatra and the Seven Resolves programme.
Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit has issued detailed instructions to district officials to ensure all administrative arrangements are in place ahead of the tour. During the journey, CM is expected to inspect development projects on site, lay foundation stones, inaugurate key initiatives, and oversee the commencement of new works in each district.
Public engagement will be a central feature of the Yatra. The Chief Minister will hold dialogue sessions in each district, providing citizens an opportunity to raise concerns and offer suggestions. District-level reviews of government programmes will also take place, with participation from senior bureaucrats, including Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and Secretaries of relevant departments.
“The Samriddhi Yatra provides an important opportunity to assess the government’s commitment to development at the grassroots level,” Amrit said, emphasising the need for officials to present accurate, up-to-date information during inspections and review meetings.
Law and order, security, and traffic management have been flagged for special attention. Amrit instructed the Director General of Police, divisional commissioners, regional inspectors general, district magistrates, and superintendents of police to coordinate closely to ensure smooth execution of the Yatra.
Officials described the initiative as a significant step towards direct interaction between the state leadership and the public, while simultaneously reviewing the impact of development programmes across Bihar’s districts.
