Purnia: Asaduddin Owaisi, chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has announced that his party will contest all 243 seats in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections after seat-sharing talks with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) collapsed.
Speaking in Purnia on Friday during his Seemanchal Nyay Yatra, Owaisi said he had asked RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad for just six seats in the Grand Alliance to strengthen the fight against the NDA and the BJP, but his request was rejected.
“Lalu and Tejashwi Yadav do not want Seemanchal to get its rights or development. I will never separate myself from this region,” Owaisi told supporters at Belgachhi Purba Chowk. He added that if Seemanchal is now debated in both Parliament and the Bihar assembly, it is because of AIMIM’s efforts.

Owaisi also accused four former AIMIM legislators of betrayal after they defected to the RJD. “They became MLAs because of AIMIM, but they stabbed the people of Seemanchal in the back,” he said, calling Tejashwi Yadav’s move to induct them a “failed conspiracy” to weaken his party.
Despite past willingness to align with the Grand Alliance, Owaisi said the RJD leadership was unwilling to accommodate AIMIM and instead sought to marginalise it.
