Patna: Police in the Agamkuan area of Patna have opened an investigation into a gym trainer after his partner suffered a life-threatening medical emergency during a sexual encounter. The decision to proceed with legal action comes despite the 22-year-old woman’s explicit statement that the encounter was consensual and her family’s refusal to file a formal complaint.
The incident occurred late last week when the woman met her partner—a gym trainer where she previously exercised—shortly before their scheduled engagement on April 18. According to police reports, the couple visited the residence of a mutual acquaintance. During the encounter, the woman suffered severe haemorrhaging, prompting her partner to transport her by motorcycle to a private nursing home in the Chitragupta Nagar area.
Police Intervention and ‘Suspicious’ Circumstances
Medical staff at the nursing home, alarmed by the woman’s critical condition, alerted the local police station in accordance with mandatory reporting protocols for severe injuries.
Upon arrival, officers recorded a statement from the woman, who remains under medical care. She categorically denied any coercion, clarifying that the encounter was consensual and stating she did not wish to press charges.
However, Parichay Kumar, the Superintendent of Police (East), indicated that the state would intervene regardless of the victim’s testimony. “As this matter appears suspicious, we are proceeding to register a case based on the police’s own official report,” he stated. The gym trainer has been named as the accused in the newly registered case.
While the woman continues her recovery in the private nursing home, police have confirmed that they will investigate the “facts” of the medical emergency to determine if any foul play occurred, despite the claims of the parties involved.
The gym trainer remains the primary subject of the investigation. Authorities have not yet specified the exact sections of the law under which he is being charged, noting that “further action will be taken based on facts that emerge” during the forensic and medical review.
