Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation has intensified a citywide enforcement drive against illegal hoardings and banners, removing 200 unauthorised structures and issuing 252 notices across six administrative zones. Officials said the campaign is aimed at improving urban aesthetics, easing traffic congestion and ensuring public safety.
Authorities reported that unauthorised advertisements installed on public spaces, roadsides, electric poles, government premises and private buildings are being dismantled following surveys conducted using technical assessment methods. The civic body has warned that violators will face penal action for breaching advertising regulations.
The crackdown has also extended to private buildings, where rooftop and wall-mounted hoardings installed without permission are being removed. Property owners and advertising agencies with outstanding dues have been directed to settle payments promptly. Zone-wise data showed the highest removals in Patliputra and Nutan Rajdhani areas, while Kankarbagh recorded the largest number of notices.
Municipal officials said the drive is continuing during night hours to tackle hoardings located in high-traffic and congested areas. Municipal commissioner Yashpal Meena instructed enforcement teams to carry out strict and impartial action, stating that activities harming the city’s image would not be tolerated.
In a parallel move, the civic body has issued notices to 54 advertising agencies over unpaid dues amounting to Rs 107.12 crore. Authorities warned that failure to clear the arrears could lead to legal proceedings under the Public Demands Recovery Act and possible blacklisting. The municipal corporation has urged agencies and residents to obtain proper approvals before installing advertisements, adding that enforcement measures will continue as part of ongoing regulatory efforts.
