Patna: Construction work on Patna Metro’s Khemnichak Station is progressing in line with project timelines, with authorities targeting completion by October 2026.
The development follows a review of the metro project by officials of the Urban Development and Housing Department and Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL), who discussed pending works and directed agencies to adhere to project deadlines.
Khemnichak to serve as key interchange
Khemnichak will function as the interchange station connecting Patna Metro’s two corridors.
According to officials, the station will link Bhootnath and Malahi Pakri stations on Corridor-2 with the Corridor-1 network, making it a significant junction in the city’s future metro system.
Tunnel work nears completion
Officials said tunnelling work between Rajendra Nagar and Moin-ul-Haq Stadium is nearing completion.
The final phase of tunnelling on this section is expected to be completed within the next few days, marking progress on the underground segment of the project.
Underground expansion planned near Patna Zoo
Preparations are also under way to expand the underground metro network along Bailey Road.
Officials said a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) is expected to be launched near Patna Zoo later this year as part of the next phase of underground construction.
Agencies directed to maintain coordination
During the review meeting, the department’s secretary-cum-managing director instructed all agencies involved in the project to maintain coordination and ensure that construction milestones are achieved on schedule.
Officials said regular monitoring of the project is being carried out and that work is progressing in accordance with the approved plan.
The Patna Metro project is expected to play a key role in improving urban mobility and public transport infrastructure in the state capital.
