Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation has deployed more than 300 sanitation workers and installed extensive civic infrastructure ahead of the Bihar cabinet expansion and swearing-in ceremony scheduled at Gandhi Maidan.
Officials said the arrangements, overseen by municipal commissioner Yashpal Meena and senior staff, are aimed at maintaining hygiene, ensuring drinking water availability and preventing waterlogging in case of rain.
Around 40 sanitation workers have already carried out intensive pre-event cleaning at the venue. On the day of the ceremony, over 300 personnel will be stationed across the grounds to manage waste, maintain toilets, distribute drinking water and support drainage operations.
The civic body has divided operations into 50 teams, each led by a sanitation inspector-in-charge and supported by five workers drawn from different wards. The teams will function under the supervision of executive officers from the Nutan Rajdhani and Patliputra zones. Identity cards are being issued to all deployed workers.
With rainfall a possibility, the corporation has also put in place contingency measures. Five “super sucker” machines have been arranged, four of which will remain within the grounds. Pumping systems, including high-capacity units, have been installed at key points such as Ramgulam Chowk, alongside additional mini-suction machines within the venue to facilitate rapid drainage.
Drinking water supply will be supported by four “Nigam Neer” vehicles and eight tankers stationed across the premises. Permanent water kiosks near gates 7 and 10 will also remain operational throughout the event.
To cater to visitors, three “pink toilets” designated for women and five “loo cafés” have been set up at multiple locations. Maintenance staff have been assigned to ensure regular cleaning of facilities, including an existing green toilet near gate 7.
Officials said the measures are intended to ensure a “clean, safe and well-organised” event for attendees, with rapid response systems in place to handle any emergencies.
