Patna: Authorities and festival organisers in Patna have stepped up preparations for Ram Navami 2026, with plans underway for a large and elaborate religious procession scheduled for March 27. This year’s celebrations are expected to be particularly grand, with more than 50 neighbourhoods preparing decorative tableaux and processions that will move through the city before concluding at the Mahavir Mandir near Patna Junction.
Thousands of devotees are expected to take part in the celebrations, which organisers say will immerse the city in a festive and devotional atmosphere. The processions will begin from different localities across the city and travel along traditional routes, with participants carrying saffron flags and chanting devotional hymns dedicated to Lord Ram.
To ensure the event proceeds smoothly, a high-level coordination meeting was held between the district administration and festival organisers. The meeting, led by the Shri Shri Ram Navami Shobhayatra Abhinandan Samiti under the guidance of Bihar minister Nitin Naveen, included Patna district magistrate Dr Tyagarajan SM and senior superintendent of police Karthikeya K Sharma. Discussions focused on crowd management, security deployment and traffic arrangements to handle the expected influx of devotees.
Organisers said more than 51 tableaux will participate in the procession this year, each representing different neighbourhood committees and cultural themes related to the Ramayana. The processions will eventually converge at the Mahavir Mandir, where devotees will offer the traditional Ram flag as part of the concluding rituals.
A major highlight of the celebrations will take place at Dak Bungalow Chowk, often considered the heart of the city during Ram Navami festivities. A special stage will be set up by the Abhinandan Samiti to welcome and honour the participating committees and their tableaux as they pass through the intersection.
Civic authorities have also been instructed to ensure adequate arrangements for sanitation and drinking water along the procession routes. Officials say additional security personnel and traffic management measures will be deployed to maintain order as large crowds gather across the city to celebrate the festival.
