Patna: The body of an unidentified young man was recovered on Wednesday from a vacant government building near Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Nandanagar, under the Shastri Nagar police station area of Patna. A suspected narcotic injection and a syringe were found near the body, while injury marks were visible on the man’s face.
Police sent the body for post-mortem examination and called a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to examine the scene. No identity documents or mobile phone were found on the deceased, making identification difficult.
Police Investigate Possible Drug Overdose
Secretariat deputy superintendent of police Saket Ranjan said the body had been recovered and sent for post-mortem examination.
The presence of the injection and syringe has raised suspicion that the death may be linked to drug use. However, police have not confirmed the cause of death, which will be established after the post-mortem examination and FSL reports are received.
Investigators are examining the evidence collected from the site to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
Residents Report Gatherings At Vacant Building
Local residents said the government building had remained unused for a long time. According to them, groups of people, including suspected drug users, frequently gathered inside the premises during the day and at night.
Residents suspect the incident may have occurred late on Tuesday night, with police receiving information about the body on Wednesday morning. A crowd gathered near the building after news of the discovery spread.
Identity Yet To Be Established
Police are working to identify the deceased and determine how he died. The absence of identification documents and a mobile phone has complicated the process.
The cause of death remains undetermined, and further conclusions will depend on the findings of the post-mortem examination, forensic analysis and ongoing investigation.
