Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a roadshow in Patna on Sunday as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign for the upcoming assembly elections, prompting the administration to implement stringent security measures across the city.
Authorities have declared the area a no-drone zone and enforced a three-tier security cordon along the Prime Minister’s route. The stretch has been double-barricaded, with police deployed from the airport to the endpoint of the roadshow.
CCTV cameras have been installed across key junctions, and security personnel will be stationed on multi-storey buildings along the route. Members of the Special Protection Group (SPG), paramilitary forces, and state police will monitor the event closely.
Senior officials, including Range Inspector General Jitendra Singh Rana, all district superintendents of police (SPs), and deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), convened a high-level meeting on Saturday at the Range IG office. The meeting, chaired by Additional Director General (ADG), lasted nearly two hours and outlined detailed security protocols for the event.
The roadshow will cover key locations including Dinkar Golambar, Nala Road, Thakurbari, Bakarganj, Baripath, and Machhua Toli. Link roads leading to the route will remain closed during the Prime Minister’s passage.
Police officers and magistrates have been assigned at multiple checkpoints, with personnel deployed in three layers — outside the barricades, in the middle section, and closest to the route. Attendees and passersby will undergo security checks using metal detectors.
