Patna: Prashant Kishor, the convener of the Jan Suraaj Party, has dismissed speculation of political alliances in Bihar, asserting that his party will contest the upcoming assembly elections independently. Speaking to reporters, Kishore made it clear that there are no talks with leaders such as Chirag Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) or Jitan Ram Manjhi of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM).
“Our alliance is with the people of Bihar,” Kishor said. “Jan Suraaj will not form any alliance with any party or leader. We will contest all 243 seats on our own in the two-phase election. The first candidate list will be released on October 9.”
Kishor described the prevailing political narrative as a struggle for control rather than public service. “There is a fight to loot Bihar. Every party wants to increase its seats to exploit the state further. We have no alliance—our alliance is with the people,” he said, rejecting claims of negotiations with the LJP or HAM.
Meanwhile, two constituents within the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are reportedly dissatisfied. Chirag Paswan has warned of his influence, claiming to hold 11% of Bihar’s vote share, up from 6% in the last election, and says he can sway 20,000 to 25,000 votes per constituency. “I always have the option of exit,” he said. Jitan Ram Manjhi, similarly, is said to be exploring alternative strategies ahead of the polls.
The Jan Suraaj Party’s decision to go solo adds a new dimension to Bihar’s electoral landscape, challenging the traditional alliances that have dominated state politics.
