Patna: A young woman from Rosera town in Bihar’s Samastipur district has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the 36th rank in the 2025 results of the UPSC, one of India’s most competitive examinations.
Dr Deepali Mahato, originally from Rosera, cleared the civil services examination with an outstanding rank, earning a place in the IAS. Her success has brought pride not only to her family but also to the wider Samastipur district.
The UPSC civil services examination is widely regarded as one of the toughest in the country, demanding years of preparation, perseverance and determination. Mahato’s achievement reflects sustained hard work and discipline, qualities her family says she has demonstrated since childhood.
Mahato’s father, Sanjay Kumar Mahato, is a retired officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), while her mother, Sulekha Devi, is a homemaker. Family members said her dedication to studies and clear sense of purpose helped her reach the milestone.
She is the granddaughter of the late Virendra Mahato and Rajkumari Devi, residents of Katharbanni Mohalla in Rosera. According to relatives, Mahato remained focused on her academic goals from a young age.
News of her success sparked celebrations across Rosera and other parts of Samastipur, with many residents describing it as a moment of pride for the entire district.
As she prepares to begin her career in the IAS, Mahato is expected to take on responsibilities in public administration and governance. Her achievement has also become a source of inspiration for young people in the region, reinforcing the belief that candidates from small towns can succeed in the country’s most demanding examinations.
