According to his post, security had been assigned to him while he was staying outside Bihar and was later continued upon his return. He said he voluntarily returned the protection after coming back to the state.
He also remarked that responsibility for his safety would now rest with the state administration, noting that ensuring security of political leaders is a government duty in a democracy.
The move is likely to add to the ongoing political exchange between opposition leaders and the state government led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, with security arrangements emerging as a point of public debate.
Further responses from the state administration on the development are awaited.
