Patna: Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and MLA from Hasanpur, has triggered political speculation after unfollowing the RJD’s official handle and several family members on X (formerly Twitter). Among those unfollowed are his elder sister and MP Misa Bharti, his sisters Raj Laxmi Yadav and Hema Yadav, and other relatives. His following count on the platform has dropped from 19 to just six.
The move has stirred discussion within RJD circles and among political observers, especially in the context of a cryptic post he shared on Wednesday. In it, Tej Pratap posted an AI-generated image showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi appearing in his dream, inviting him to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the imagined exchange, Modi says, “Join our party,” to which Tej Pratap responds, “I have my own party, you join ours.”

हम वो हैं जो सपने में भी विचार नहीं बेचते।#TejPratapYadav #JanSeva pic.twitter.com/QzHVFCSeFS— Tej Pratap Yadav (@TejYadav14) July 23, 2025
Alongside the image, Tej Pratap wrote, “There are many who sell dreams for power. We are the ones who don’t sell our ideas, even in dreams.” The post came shortly after he was seen meeting Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha outside the Vidhan Sabha. Photographs show Sinha patting Tej Pratap on the back and exchanging greetings, further fuelling political chatter.
The developments coincide with Tej Pratap’s recent rebranding efforts on social media. He has launched a new Instagram handle and Facebook page under the name “Team Tej Pratap Yadav”. Notably, the Facebook page makes no reference to the RJD, with a cover image stating, “Jiska kaayam hai Pratap, woh hai aapka apna Tej Pratap.” The banner also features his parents, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi.
Announcing the page on X, he wrote, “The desire to achieve dreams makes hard work its companion… Every morning is a new opportunity, just believe in yourself.”
Though Tej Pratap has not made any official declaration, his recent moves have led to speculation that he may be preparing to chart an independent political path. He was previously suspended from the RJD for six years following internal disagreements.
