Patna: Following a crushing setback in the Bihar Assembly elections, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has launched a detailed review of the party’s performance, focusing on the 119 seats lost. The exercise, aimed at diagnosing organisational weaknesses and strategic missteps, began on Tuesday at the party’s Patna office.
Over the next five days, Yadav will hold one-on-one discussions with defeated candidates, district presidents, and general secretaries, division by division. Sources say these meetings will probe into booth-level reports, voting patterns, the performance of allies, and the party’s outreach across different social groups. The leader is reportedly seeking candid feedback on whether the electoral losses stemmed from internal coordination failures, flawed strategies, or broader organisational weaknesses.
The review is structured in two phases. The first phase runs until November 30, after which the process will pause during the Bihar Legislative Assembly session from December 1 to 5. It will resume from December 6 to 9. Party insiders indicate that significant organisational reforms and strategic recalibrations may emerge from the outcome of these discussions.
On the opening day, defeated candidates from the Magadh Division were called in for discussions. Since the election results were declared on November 14, Yadav has maintained a low public profile, avoiding media appearances. Now, he is engaging directly with his candidates to understand the causes of the party’s poor performance. Reports within the party suggest that Yadav may consider major changes and take tough decisions based on the findings of this internal review.
