Bihar Police Promotes 648 Personnel; Appoints 12 Dependents Of Deceased Officers

Patna: In a significant move, the Police Headquarters in Bihar has granted temporary substitute higher executive charges to 648 policemen, marking a major development in personnel promotions within the department. A decision was made by the Central Screening Committee to promote 210 Sub-Inspectors (SI) to the rank of Police Inspector, 286 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) to Sub-Inspectors (SI), and 152 Havildars to the position of Reserve Sub-Inspector (Training).

As per departmental sources, during the review process, 216 promotion cases from SI to Inspector have been categorized as pending or ineligible. These cases will remain under further consideration pending approval from the Director General of Police (DGP). Following this, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Personnel issued the necessary orders regarding the promotions.

Additionally, the Departmental Recommendation Committee approved the appointment of 12 minor dependents of deceased police personnel to child constable positions, based on proposals from various district units. However, 11 such cases are still pending.

The Police Headquarters clarified that officers promoted to temporary substitute higher executive charges will be entitled to financial benefits from the date they assume charge. These officers will continue serving in their current posting districts, units, or offices until further instructions are issued.
