Patna: The impact of Bihar’s film policy, supported by the Bihar State Film Development and Finance Corporation Ltd and the Department of Art and Culture, is becoming more visible as new productions increasingly choose the state as a filming destination.
A Hindi feature film, Sarkari Medium, based on social themes, is set to be shot across multiple locations in East Champaran district between April 17 and May 5.
The project, produced under Raj Sagar Films, is also expected to generate work opportunities for local artists, technicians and service providers, with a stated focus on hiring talent from within Bihar.
Producer-director Raj Sagar said the aim of the film was to provide “as many opportunities as possible” to artists from the state, adding that the production is focused on helping local talent gain wider recognition.
In parallel, the state government’s online portal (https://film.bihar.gov.in/) for registration of artists, technicians and vendors has been positioned as a key step towards streamlining film production processes in Bihar. The platform is intended to connect filmmakers directly with local resources.
The portal includes a wide range of listed services under its “vendor” category, including studios, animation, props, equipment, transport, logistics, editing, costumes, catering, hospitality, security and travel services. Its “performance” category covers roles such as acting, direction, cinematography, music, dance, writing, sound design, editing, art direction, makeup and hair styling, costume design and VFX.
Officials and stakeholders say the initiative is part of broader efforts to develop Bihar as a regional film production hub, with increased integration between government policy, digital infrastructure and the creative industries.
