Patna: Patna Metro’s underground corridor is witnessing rapid progress, with civil construction work nearing completion at several key stations across the city. Metro officials said approximately 75% of the civil work at seven underground stations has already been completed.
The stations include Rajendra Nagar, Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, Patna University, PMCH, Gandhi Maidan, Akashvani and Patna Junction.
Finishing Work Underway at Underground Stations
Construction activities have now moved into the finishing phase at several locations. At Patna University Metro Station, work on staircases and granite flooring at the concourse level is progressing at a fast pace.
Officials said efforts are being made to give the stations a modern, attractive and passenger-friendly design. The construction of all seven underground stations is targeted for completion by November 2027.
Malahi Pakri Corridor Ready, Awaiting Inauguration
The Bhootnath–Malahi Pakri metro stretch and Malahi Pakri Metro Station have already been completed, according to officials.
The corridor has also received final approval from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). However, metro authorities are still awaiting formal instructions from the Union government and the Bihar government regarding the inauguration and commencement of passenger services.
New TBM to Be Launched at Patna Junction
Construction activity is set to intensify around Patna Junction, where barricading and excavation work near the Golambar area is expected to begin shortly.
A new Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) is being deployed for deep underground excavation and is likely to be launched by the end of June. Patna Junction is being developed as a major interchange station with entry and exit points planned near the old Milk Market and Buddha Smriti Park.
Metro Alignment to Shift Near Mithapur
Metro officials said the corridor will transition from an underground section to an elevated track near Mithapur. The required structural framework for this transition has already been prepared.
The retrieval shaft at Patna Junction Metro Station will also be constructed as per the approved project plan, ensuring smooth tunnel excavation and future operations.
Authorities said construction work across the Patna Metro project is being accelerated to meet scheduled deadlines and bring the city’s first metro network into operation as planned.
