Vaishali: A heated confrontation between CRPF personnel and the family of a Bihar Police inspector turned violent on Monday at a road checkpoint in Vaishali district’s Saidpur Ganesh area under the Bidupur police station limits. The incident, which was captured on video and has since gone viral, shows the two sides exchanging blows in the middle of the road.
According to reports, the police inspector was travelling from Hajipur to Bidupur with his wife and son when their vehicle was stopped at a CRPF checkpoint. Eyewitnesses said the personnel asked the family to step out of the car, leading to an argument that quickly spiralled into a physical altercation.
The video footage shows the inspector’s wife, dressed in a yellow suit, confronting CRPF personnel while a young man in a black T-shirt—believed to be the inspector’s son—argues with them. The situation escalated when the woman allegedly slapped a jawan, prompting the CRPF personnel to resort to a lathi charge. The inspector’s son reportedly sustained head injuries and was seen bleeding in the video.
Locals said the inspector identified himself as a Bihar Police officer and objected to the way he and his family were being treated. He reportedly asked the CRPF personnel to return items that had fallen from the car’s trunk, which further provoked the soldiers. During the scuffle, the inspector’s wife fell to the ground, causing a traffic jam in the area.
Police soon arrived and managed to restore order. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) officials stated that the CRPF personnel and a magistrate present at the scene were allegedly mistreated, and there was an attempt to snatch a soldier’s rifle. An FIR has been registered based on the magistrate’s statement, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
