Patna: In a bid to expand access to advanced education, the state government has allocated Rs 94,50,47,000 for the Chief Minister Digital Library Scheme. The project will enable students to prepare online for competitive exams such as JEE, NEET and CLAT through digital platforms.
The Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, S Siddharth, has written to DEOs instructing them to prioritise Block Resource Centres (BRCs) for the libraries. Where BRC space is unavailable, alternative sites such as Panchayat Bhawans, Block Office Complexes, Nagar Parishad or Nagar Panchayat Bhawans, Vikas Bhawans, community libraries, and government schools or colleges may be used.
Each library will be equipped with at least 10 computer terminals, along with electricity and high-speed internet connectivity. Larger model libraries will be established in Patna and other regional centres, housing 60 and 50 computers respectively.
The scheme is being implemented by the Bihar State Electronics Development Corporation and aims to bring digital study facilities to students in both urban and rural areas.
