New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued strict instructions to schools regarding the second board examination for Class 10 students, making it clear that institutions must not collect any additional fees from students apart from the prescribed examination fee.
The board said it had received complaints that some schools were demanding up to three months’ tuition fees from students while submitting the List of Candidates (LOC) for the second board examination. Taking a strong stance, CBSE stated that such practices violate board rules.
According to the board, schools are allowed to collect only the examination fee while filling out the LOC forms. Charging any other amount, including tuition fees linked to the exam process, has been termed completely unacceptable and against the guidelines.
CBSE has warned that strict action will be taken against any school found violating these instructions and collecting extra money from students.
The board has scheduled the second Class 10 board examination for May 2026. The opportunity is meant for students who wish to improve their marks. Students will be allowed to reappear in a maximum of three subjects to enhance their scores.
CBSE also informed schools that the process of submitting the LOC will be completed in three phases. Institutions have been directed to strictly follow the prescribed guidelines while completing the submission process.
