Patna: Manish Kashyap, the YouTuber who contested the Bihar assembly elections from Chanpatia on a Jan Suraaj Party ticket, has shared an emotional message on social media after failing to secure a seat in the 2025 poll.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a decisive victory with 202 seats, while Prashant Kishor’s JSP failed to win any. Kashyap, once seen as a disruptive new entrant capable of influencing the Bhumihar vote, finished a distant third.
Congress candidate Abhishek Ranjan won the constituency with 87,538 votes, narrowly defeating the BJP’s Umakant Singh, who secured 86,936. Kashyap drew 37,172 votes.
Following the results, Kashyap posted a photo of his mother on X, writing: “Mother, today… I have nothing left except you.” Reflecting on his political journey, he said he sometimes felt it would have been better “to change the circumstances of my own family rather than trying to change Bihar”.

He added that he had faced “22 lawsuits and several jail terms”, claiming that some people were now mocking him and asking what he had gained from the election. “How do I explain to them that I received the blessings of 37,172 people – not because of caste or party loyalty, but for who I am?” he wrote.
Kashyap said the defeat had affected him more deeply than his time in prison. “I risked everything and in return received only loss and taunts,” he said, before vowing to continue his political struggle. “I promise I will keep trying until I win.”
