Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has started his fresh term in office with swift action, surprising officers with an early inspection of major development projects in Patna. On Sunday, barely days after taking the oath for the 10th time, he reached Daroga Rai Path to inspect the newly constructed flats built for MLAs. The unexpected visit came at a time when most officials were not on duty, creating a sense of urgency within the administration.
During the inspection, Nitish Kumar instructed officials to make sure that MLAs do not face any inconvenience when they shift into their accommodation. A total of 243 flats have been built for the elected representatives, and they will be allotted based on seniority once the MLAs take their oath. The Chief Minister examined construction work closely, raising questions about maintenance and facility management to avoid future complaints.
After reviewing the MLA flats, Nitish Kumar moved on to the JP Ganga Path project and inspected the ongoing beautification work along the road. He directed officials to speed up the project while maintaining quality, emphasising timely completion and improved public infrastructure for Patna residents. His approach during both visits suggested that development and administrative efficiency will be top priorities in his new term.
The strong start follows the NDA alliance’s landslide win in the Bihar Assembly elections. The BJP-led NDA secured 202 out of 243 seats, with the BJP winning 89 seats, JDU 85, LJP 10, HAM 5 and RLSP 4. Nitish Kumar and 26 ministers were sworn in at Gandhi Maidan on November 20th, marking his 10th term as Chief Minister. His immediate field inspections indicate a direct and performance-focused style of governance going forward.
