Patna: A fire broke out at the Jansuraj camp near the Pataliputra roundabout in Patna around 5 p.m. on Monday, causing panic among people present at the site. The flames spread quickly through the parking area, where several party vehicles were stationed. Within minutes, thick smoke covered the area, forcing people to rush out in fear. Firefighters and police arrived soon after and managed to bring the situation under control.
According to officials, fourteen bikes belonging to the Jansuraj Party were parked at the camp. Out of these, five were completely destroyed in the fire, while nine others were saved. Sub-Divisional Fire Officer Ajit Kumar said that the fire was brought under control within 10 minutes after the team reached the spot. “We received the call at 5 p.m. and immediately sent three small fire engines. The situation is now fully under control,” he said.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, and investigations are underway. However, Jansuraj supporters and workers have alleged that the incident was not accidental. Rajesh Kumar, the caretaker of the camp, claimed that someone deliberately set the fire. He said, “When I checked the area at 5 o’clock, everything was fine. A few minutes later, a passerby shouted that smoke was rising. When I turned around, the middle of the camp was already burning. I tried to put it out with water, but the flames grew even stronger.”
The incident has led to anger and suspicion among Jansuraj supporters, many of whom believe the fire was an attempt to disrupt their activities. Police and the fire department are now investigating whether it was an accident or a planned act. For now, the damaged vehicles and charred remains at the site reflect the seriousness of the situation, while party members are demanding a fair and thorough probe into the incident.
