Patna: The long-awaited construction of a bus stand in Kanhauli, located in the Bihta region of Patna district, is expected to begin soon, with land acquisition procedures now moving forward. The AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies has completed a social impact assessment, paving the way for further progress on the project.
Officials have identified nearly 50 acres of land across Kanhauli and Parkhoddipur Kainathi for the development. Thirteen acres fall within Kanhauli, while 37 acres have been earmarked in Parkhoddipur Kainathi. The site will be located near the upcoming Patna Ring Road, enhancing regional connectivity.
The Urban Development and Housing Department has received a detailed report on the land parcels, including an assessment of existing structures that will be demolished during construction. A compensation package worth Rs 212.16 crore is set to be distributed to affected landowners, including for structures marked for removal.
The new facility is expected to significantly ease the burden on the Bairia bus stand, currently the primary departure point for passengers from western Patna areas such as Danapur and Bihta. Commuters have long faced difficulties reaching Bairia due to limited local transport options.
Once completed, the Kanhauli bus stand will improve access to cities across both South and North Bihar, including Chapra, Muzaffarpur, Siwan, and Gopalganj.
