Purnia: After a prolonged wait, Purnia Airport is finally set to begin commercial flight operations. Independent Member of Parliament (MP) Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav announced that flights will start from September, with ticket bookings for Indigo Airlines scheduled to open on August 26.
During an inspection of the airport, MP Yadav hailed the development as a “historic victory of the people,” and offered his congratulations to the citizens of Purnia. He noted that the central government’s Civil Aviation Ministry had fulfilled its responsibilities in a timely manner. However, he also criticized the Bihar government, stating that a delay in flight operations was caused by its “sluggishness” in completing the airport’s boundary wall and improving road connectivity.
Yadav emphasized that the airport is a victory for every citizen, reflecting the “hopes, struggles, and trust of Purnia.” He urged the state government to complete the work on the approach road and the airport’s beautification on a “war footing” to ensure there are no further obstacles to the service. He warned that the public’s patience had been tested enough and that no more excuses would be tolerated.
