Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting on India-Nepal border management, stressing the need for stricter surveillance and stronger security arrangements along the sensitive international border.
The meeting was held at the ‘Samvad’ auditorium inside the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Patna.
Bihar Asked To Strengthen Border Monitoring
During the review meeting, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit informed officials that a high-level meeting on India-Nepal border security had earlier been held on February 26 and 27 under the chairmanship of Amit Shah.
The Chief Secretary presented a detailed report outlining compliance with directives issued during that meeting.
CM Calls India-Nepal Border ‘Sensitive Zone’
Reviewing the status of border management, the Chief Minister said the state government plays a critical role in maintaining border security and coordination.
He described the India-Nepal border as a “sensitive zone” and instructed officials to ensure strict implementation of directives issued by the Central Government.
CM Chaudhary directed authorities to:
- strengthen surveillance systems along the border
- enhance security infrastructure
- deploy modern technology for monitoring activities

Focus On Smuggling, Narcotics And Counterfeit Currency
The Chief Minister instructed officials to remain fully alert regarding:
- suspicious cross-border movement
- narcotics trafficking
- circulation of counterfeit currency
- smuggling activities
He warned that no laxity would be tolerated in matters related to border security and called for strict action against illegal activities operating along the frontier.
Officials were also directed to keep the border security mechanism “fully strengthened” at all times.
