Patna: Uday Singh, popularly known as Pappu Singh, has stepped down as national president of the Jan Suraaj Party and announced a one-year break from active politics.
Singh said he had informed Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor of his decision and described the move as a personal choice aimed at allowing him to focus on long-pending responsibilities.
“I will no longer serve as the party’s national president. I have conveyed this to Prashant Kishor,” Singh said, adding that he intended to devote time to unfinished personal and organisational projects.
Sheikhpura House Set For Redevelopment
One of the major projects Singh cited was the redevelopment of “Sheikhpura House”, his ancestral property in Patna that had until recently served as the principal operational base of Jan Suraaj and Prashant Kishor.
According to Singh:
- Existing smaller structures at the site will be demolished
- The building where Kishor had been residing will also be razed
- A completely new structure will be built from scratch
He said the property would not be converted into a commercial complex.
Instead, discussions are underway regarding the construction of:
- A public library
- A meeting or community hall
- Other facilities intended for public use
Officials associated with the party said Sheikhpura House had previously housed:
- Prashant Kishor’s residence
- Jan Suraaj’s administrative office
- Organisational and political operations
