Teenage Girl Found Hanging From Mobile Tower in Purnia After Leaving Home

Purnia / Patna : The body of a teenage girl was discovered hanging from a six-foot-high mobile tower in a maize field in Purnia, around a kilometre from her home. Police suspect suicide.
The girl, identified as 16-year-old Reshma Khatoon from Chandbhathi village in the Dagarua police station area, had left home on Friday evening after being scolded by her mother over a mistake in sewing. According to her family, she did not return, prompting an overnight search.
Her body was found early on Saturday by local women who had gone to cut grass for cattle near Barsoni toll plaza. The body was reportedly hanging from a dupatta.
Local villagers alerted the police, who arrived at the scene with a forensic team to collect evidence. “The body has been sent for postmortem, and investigations are ongoing,” said the Dagarua police station chief.
Reshma’s relatives, including her uncle and grandfather, said she had been learning sewing and embroidery at home. “She was missing all night, and in the morning, villagers found her body. It looks like she acted in anger,” said Nayyar Alam, a local representative.
