Bhagalpur: A new tourist attraction is set to be added to Ajgaivinath Dham in Bihar, with authorities fast-tracking the construction of a glass bridge ahead of the annual Shravani Mela.
The project, estimated to cost around Rs 20 crore, will see the state’s second glass bridge built over the Ganga River, to the north of the Parvati Temple. Officials say the structure is intended to enhance both religious tourism and the visitor experience at the site.
According to project details, the bridge will measure approximately 30 metres in length and 5 metres in width, and will be situated at a height of about 200 feet. From the structure, visitors will be able to view the Baba Ajgaivinath Temple, the Uttarvahini stretch of the Ganga, and the surrounding Ajgaivinath hill.
Rajkumar Guddu, chief councillor of the municipal council, said the project has been given a six-month deadline, with the aim of opening it before the start of the Shravani Mela.
Officials and technical teams have already inspected the site. The bridge will be constructed using high-quality transparent glass and is expected to accommodate up to 40 people at a time.
Authorities said one of the key attractions will be the ability to look down into the river below, where visitors may be able to observe the depth of the Ganges and aquatic life, including dolphins, creating what they describe as a unique and immersive experience.
The development plan also includes additional facilities such as selfie points, waiting halls and ticket counters to manage visitor flow and improve amenities.
Construction has been assigned to a private company based in Pune, which has assured authorities that the work will be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Local administrators believe the project will significantly boost tourism at Ajgaivinath Dham and increase footfall during the Shravani Mela, one of the region’s most important religious events.
