Patna: Most parts of Bihar are expected to remain dry on June 3, with no significant rainfall forecast across the state, according to the latest weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The department has warned that temperatures are likely to rise gradually over the next few days, increasing the possibility of heatwave conditions in several districts between June 4 and June 6.
Meteorologists said the state is entering a hotter and drier phase following recent spells of pre-monsoon rain and thunderstorms.
Night-Time Temperatures Remain Above Normal
According to IMD data, minimum temperatures recorded at several locations across Bihar during the past 24 hours were between 1.6°C and 3.0°C above normal.
The elevated night-time temperatures have reduced overnight relief from the heat, leaving many residents experiencing warm and uncomfortable conditions even after sunset.
Weather officials noted that the combination of above-normal minimum temperatures and increasing daytime heat could contribute to heightened discomfort in the coming days.
Temperatures Expected To Rise Further
The Meteorological Department has projected a gradual increase of 2°C to 3°C in maximum temperatures across the state leading up to June 3.
With clear skies and the absence of widespread rainfall, daytime temperatures are expected to climb steadily, particularly in central and southern parts of Bihar.
Weather scientists have cautioned that the rising temperatures could set the stage for a severe heatwave across several regions later this week.

Heatwave Warning For June 4–6
The IMD has indicated a strong possibility of heatwave conditions developing between June 4 and June 6.
While district-specific warnings are yet to be issued, officials said residents should remain alert and take necessary precautions against prolonged exposure to extreme heat.
The department has advised people to avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and to ensure adequate hydration.
Advisory Issued For Farmers And Livestock Rearers
Agricultural meteorologists have also issued a special advisory for livestock owners in anticipation of the rising temperatures.
They have recommended ensuring a continuous supply of clean and fresh drinking water for animals to reduce the risk of heat stress.
Poultry farmers have been advised to cover shed roofs with grass, straw or other insulating materials to help regulate internal temperatures and protect birds from extreme heat.
Officials said precautionary measures taken now could help minimise losses in the livestock and poultry sectors if heatwave conditions intensify later this week.
With monsoon activity yet to arrive in Bihar, weather experts expect heat and humidity to remain dominant features of the state’s weather pattern over the coming days.
