Patna: The District Magistrate of Patna, Dr Thiyagarajan SM, has taken strict action against officials in seven blocks for failing to meet targets in the ongoing e-KYC cum Farmer Registry initiative. The move comes as part of a district-wide effort to provide farmers with easier access to government schemes through the creation of a unified digital identity.
During a review of special registration camps held across 322 panchayats on Wednesday, Dr Thiyagarajan directed that by Thursday at least 500 farmer IDs be generated in each block, with a total of 12,000 or more IDs across all 23 blocks. Officials of Dhanarua, Phulwari, Pandarak, Naubatpur, and Mokama were commended for their performance, while those in Sampatchak, Danapur-cum-Khagaul, Maner, Dulhinbazar, Bakhtiyarpur, Patna Rural, and Daniyawan were penalised.
Salaries of Circle Officers, Block Agriculture Officers, and revenue employees in these seven blocks have been withheld until further notice, the DM said, adding that disciplinary action could follow if performance does not improve.
Coordinated Efforts for Camp Success
The DM instructed Sub-Divisional Officers and other nodal officials to coordinate with Circle Officers to ensure smooth operations during the camps. Agriculture Coordinators, Farmer Advisors, Assistant Technical Managers, and Block Technical Managers have been assigned to each panchayat. Farmers have been urged to participate actively, with public announcements and outreach measures in place to raise awareness.
To address queries, the government has set up helplines: the Agriculture Department at 1800 180 1551 and the Revenue and Land Reforms Department at 1800 345 6215. Farmers can also seek assistance from local officers and camp staff.
The Purpose of the Farmer ID
The Farmer Registry ID aims to create a single digital identity for every farmer in Patna, enabling seamless access to schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, Kisan Credit Card, and Crop Assistance Scheme. According to the DM, the initiative will enhance transparency in the implementation of these schemes.
The special camps will continue until January 9, and farmers are required to bring land-related documents, an Aadhaar card, and a mobile number to register.
